Course Description
This course covers the principles of suspension and steering, wheels and tires, electrical systems, starting systems, charging systems, lighting and wiring, and ignition systems.
Justification
This introductory automotive class prepares students for more advanced automotive courses. Students are introduced to Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.
The program advisory committee recommends this course as part of the basic automotive curriculum.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to differentiate between series and parallel circuits.
- Students will recognize the components of and be able to service the ignition system.
- Students will be able to test a charging system.
- Students will be able to test a starting system.
- Students will be able to mount and balance a tire.
