Phlebotomy

This program offers students the opportunity to learn valuable skills in phlebotomy.   Students in the program receive training in necessary aspects of the phlebotomist’s world, such as the healthcare system, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathological conditions in relation to the clinical laboratory.  Students study body systems, laboratory testing, specimen collection, infection prevention and safety.  In addition, professionalism, effective communication, legal and ethical responsibilities, requisitioning, transporting, processing, and quality assurance are covered.  Essential skills like venipunctures, and hands-on learning introduce students to this exciting profession.

Career Options for Graduates

  • Graduates will earn a Snow College Phlebotomy Program Completion Certificate
  • Graduates are able to work as a phlebotomist and use their phlebotomy skills in a variety of hospitals, long-term care centers, clinics, and other healthcare settings.  

Admission Requirements

  • Adult student:  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • High School Students:  Must be 17 to enroll and 18 by the end of class to begin clinicals

  • Be current on the following immunizations: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, and have a negative TB skin test.
