Course Description

This course is designed for students with prior ballroom ecperience as well as students who have taken Snow Ballroom Company I and/or Snow Ballroom Company II course. It provides them with opportunities to perform ballroom choreography for the college, community, and local schools at a higher level of technique and sophistication.

Justification

This course will provide performance opportunities to students who wish to perform ballroom dance. This class is most similar to DANC 376R at UVU.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will be able to demonstrate improved skills in performance including an increased understanding of musical rhythms in relation to ballroom dance, proper techniques specific to each dance, safe performance technique for lifts and drops, and stage presence.
  2. Students will develop skills for analyzing and evaluating the success of dance performances on the basis of technique, choeoagraphy, performance skills and storyline.

Course Content

This course will provide students with opportunities to learn: research skills for individual dances, safety in drops and lifts, floor patterns, rhythmic considerations for each dance, aesthetics in performance and execution, and working as a company ensemble.
