Snow College General Education Committee
March 27, 2012
In attendance: LaFaun Barnhurst, Clinton King, Terri Carr, Mel
Jacobsen (late arrival), Patty Meredith (late arrival), Jeff
Carney (chair), Rick White (ex officio),
Clinton moved, with LaFaun seconding, that the minutes of 3.14 be approved. LaFaun,
Clinton, Terri, and Jeff voted to approve the motion. Melanie abstained. Mel and Patti
were not yet present. The motion carried.
Most of the meeting was devoted to completing the task of mapping GE courses to GE
Outcomes It was proposed that courses addressing the Social and Behavioral Sciences
outcome should also address the Information Technology portion of GE Outcome #2. Terri
said she would propose this to her division and return with their thoughts. It was
generally agreed that courses meeting the Humanities and Fine Arts requirement should
also address GE Outcome #5 ("respond with informed sensitivity to an artistic work
or experience "). Jeff wondered if this should apply to studio courses in the fine
arts as well as appreciation courses. Patti believed that it should.
