Course Description
This course is designed to expose students to a broad range of contemporary artistic disciplines, techniques, philosophies, and personalities through presentations by working professionals in the arts. All Visual Arts majors should enroll in this course for a minimum of four semesters to meet the AFA degree requirements at Snow College. This course is repeatable for credit. A lab fee is required.
Justification
Attending school in rural central Utah does not afford students many opportunities to interact with contemporary artists as they would in a metropolitan setting. Art Talks will provide a weekly meeting for art majors to learn from and meet with various professionals working in the arts. In order for students to succeed as emerging artists, it is essential that they engage in the dialog of contemporary art. Art talks are an integral part of notable art programs throughout the country and are offered in the state of Utah at most higher education institutions. Lectures will be open to the public.
