About

I was raised in Mesa, Arizona. Ever since I was a little boy, I have always loved science (and the natural sciences in particular). I credit my childhood love of dinosaurs (which, let’s be honest, has only intensified during my adult life) for leading me to study geology. I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in geology from BYU and I also spent a little extra time in school at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I have been at Snow College since the fall of 2019 and teach mostly geology classes (in addition to a little chemistry). I absolutely love learning about the processes that form the landscapes we see all around us and I have been lucky enough to travel all over the United States (and a couple other countries too!) to see the spectacular results of geology at work. From volcanoes, to glaciers, to sand dunes, to coral reefs, geologists get to study some pretty cool stuff! I am especially interested in sedimentology and stratigraphy (the study of sedimentary rocks and the processes and environments that create them) and love living here on the edge of Colorado Plateau, which is home to some of the most spectacular exposures of sedimentary rocks anywhere in the world.
