Did you know that the majority of people get jobs because of people that they know? According to Forbes, networking is still the best way to find a job with 41% of people saying they landed a job through networking. One tool to help you improve your network is LinkedIn. Through LinkedIn you can list your credentials and professional licenses and have your information advertised 24/7 for free, giving you the visibility you need to be contacted by recruiters for interviews.
Another useful tool that LinkedIn provides is the opportunity for you to search for contacts and connect with them to improve your network. You can find fellow alumni, contacts in the industry, you desire, or even friends of the family on LinkedIn. Don’t discount the opportunity to connect and expand your network. You never know when someone you have ‘connected’ with will help you land your next job or give you that piece of advice that changes your career.
