Piano/Class
Kyle Alm is a passionate composer, pianist, and educator. He holds a Master of Music Technology from Southern Utah University and a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Commercial Music from Snow College. Apart from working as a freelance musician and composer, Alm is an adjunct professor at Snow College, where his curriculum vitae includes Music Theory, Aural Skills, Keyboard Harmony, Private Composition, Film Scoring and Private Piano lessons. Alm runs a successful international home music studio with his wife, Morgan. Together, they teach piano and other forms of music lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, both locally and virtually. While he gives traditional piano lessons, he is specifically an expert in Jazz, Pop, Songwriting, and Composition education.
Alm is acknowledged as a composer for an array of different styles and settings. Throughout his time honing his craft, he has had his pieces premiered at a number of national competitions at various venues and events. Some of these include SCI Region IV Student Conference at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and SCI Region VI Conference at Kansas State University. He was also featured as a composer and performer at Texas A&M University in Commerce, for another SCI Conference. Alm has professionally composed and arranged scores for a wide variety of ensembles, films and videogames. His most notable settings include the American Fork Symphony, Snow College Symphony Orchestra, and the Salt Lake String Quartet. These performances have featured popular artists, such as Pamela Lindquist, Rollie Stevens, and Dave Stamey. While pursuing his Bachelor Degree at Snow College, Alm studied Composition with Dr. Trent Hanna. As a student, he served as a member of the National Society of Composers Inc. Student Council.
Alm has performed with a variety of ensembles, including choirs, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles and combos, symphony orchestras, and various chamber groups. He is a member of the internationally acclaimed party band, "Uptown Sound," and has performed in a variety of other jazz, rock and pop groups. In addition, he is an established accompanist for instrumental and vocal soloists, and a solo piano performer for special events. Alm has performed throughout the United States and internationally, including performances in The Bahamas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.
Alm previously taught Music Theory and Aural Skills at Wasatch Academy, as part of The Center for Contemporary Music under the direction of Caleb Chapman. He also worked as a Piano Sales Representative at Summerhays Music, where he had the opportunity to deeply dive into the mechanisms, repairing of, and history of the piano and electric keyboards.
