Course Description
This course provides group instruction in the fundamentals of guitar. Students will learn basic chords, strumming and fingerpicking patterns, standard notation and tabliture. Additional Fee Required. Repeatable for credit.
Justification
There is great demand for guitar instruction among the general student population. Courses such as this are common at four-year institutions in the state. This course provides a low-cost introduction to a musical skill that will serve the student for a lifetime.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate the ability to form basic chords.
- Students will be able to execute basic strumming and fingerpicking patterns.
- Students will demonstrate an ability to read basic standard notation and tablature.
Course Content
The content of this course will include: basic chords, fingerpicking and strumming patterns, standard notation and tablature.
