This course provides students with the opportunity to watch other students, faculty and visiting artists in concert performance. Students learn elements of technique, stage deportment and stylistic interpretation by watching other performers. This course meets the concert attendance requirement of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and is required concert attendance for all music majors. This course is repeatable for credit.
Courses of this type are offered at other campuses with NASM accredited programs. Typically, four semesters of concert attendance grades are required by NASM for undergraduate degree programs. No credit hours are granted for this course because no formal instruction takes place - proof of attendance at the concert is the sole requirement.
Students will attend twelve (12) concerts and recitals of various artists, students, and ensembles. Performances offered will cover many styles, historical periods, and cultures.
