Math 1030 (Quantitative Literacy)

Topics Covered
  • REQUIRED CONTENT: 
    • Chapter 1 (Fun and Games), Chapter 9 (Meaning From Data), and Chapter 10 (Deciding Wisely).  At your discretion, you may choose to omit any one section from each of these required chapters. 
    • A minimum of 10 additional sections (your choice which ones) from the textbook must also be covered.
  • You are encouraged to include both individual and group work and to incorporate a variety of assesment strategies (homework, presentations, projects, exams, etc.).
  • Most importantly, have FUN with this class!  Help the students see how AWESOME math can be.
Exam Information
  • Each concurrent enrollment instructor for Math 1030 will create their own exams.  They should email a copy of the exam as well as a grading rubric and a list of topics covered to Jonathan Tyler (jonathan.tyler@snow.edu) and Cindy Alder (cindy.alder@snow.edu) for approval.  Upon receiving approval, you may administer and score the exam based on the approved rubric. 
    • Midterm Exams: Students may use any calculator and a 3"x5" notecard on these exams.
    • Final Exam: Students may use any calculator and a 3"x5" notecard on this exam.
