Jonathan Tyler was born and raised in the Idaho Falls area. He graduated from BYU-Idaho with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics in 2005 and from BYU with an M.S. in Mathematics in 2007. He completed four years of course work towards a Ph.D. at Utah State University before accepting a full-time position at Snow College. Research at the M.S. and Ph.D. level was in this field of Numerical Analysis, focusing on finite difference schemes for differential equations. He has taught for over 15 years at many levels, including high school, adult basic education, and online for various schools. As an undergrad, Jonathan discovered an interest in music and has since spent 25 years studying and learning, sharing this knowledge with his science of music classes.
