Ephraim, UT – The Snow College Rodeo team will be hosting a Rocky Mountain Region Rodeo at the Blackhawk Arena in Salina, Utah, March 18th & 19th.
The Rodeo Team will welcome 11 colleges and universities from the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Rocky Mountain Region, which includes teams from Utah, and areas of Colorado and Idaho. The rodeo stock is provided by Bar T, a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) stock contractor and one of the pick-up men will be Matt Twitchell. PRCA and the National Finals Rodeo named Twitchell pick-up man of the year in 2015. Champions in each event will receive a custom trophy buckle, and the All-Around Champions will receive their choice of a buckle or a custom Burn’s Saddlery cowboy hat.
“We will have amazing cowboys and cowgirls, and also amazing contractors that we are excited to work with,” said Rodeo Coach Kendra Sagers. “Last year we were voted the Number 2 rodeo in the region by the participants, and this year we are working to be number one. This will be a great rodeo!”
The Snow College Rodeo Team is looking forward to not only hosting but also competing with many team members performing well in the region. Freshman, Cody Ruby, from Grantsville, Utah, is currently 2nd in saddle bronc riding. Shawnee Sagers, a sophomore from Moroni, Utah, is currently 3rd in the all-around, 4th in goat tying and 5th in barrel racing. Junior, Savannah Pratt, from Lehi, Utah is 7th in breakaway roping. Jesse Hopper, a Freshman from Tooele, Utah is ranked 8th in goat tying and 11th in breakaway roping and Shayla Giles, a Freshman from Duchesne, Utah is ranked 10th in goat tying
