

Happy summer!
Summer might seem like a slower season on campus, but it’s actually a season filled with meaningful work and momentum! I’m excited to share a few key updates and sincerely thank you for the dedication and momentum you continue to bring:
Our reallocation plan has been finalized and approved by the State Board. We’ve shared several updates along the way, and you can find the most recent information here. The next step is presentation to and consideration by the state legislature.
Both our Board of Trustees and the Utah Board of Higher Education have approved an updated mission for the college: “We empower each student with a personalized path to success through comprehensive education, advanced technical training, and the confidence to create a thriving future.” This mission reflects what truly sets Snow apart—personalized, confidence-building experiences for every student.
Our strategic planning and futuring process is now complete. Through a series of focus groups; employee feedback (fall assembly break-out sessions, mission statement feedback, College Council feedback); and guided discussions with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders, we’ve developed a strong framework for our next 3-5 years. Your involvement in this process has been critical. As we align individual and institutional goals, we build a culture of continuous improvement—one that values and celebrates the individual accomplishments that drive college-wide success. Please submit your goal form by July 31 to outline how your work over the past year has supported the college’s overall goals. Your contributions will be recognized and included in our annual accountability report for internal and external stakeholders.
These exciting projects will significantly enhance our campus infrastructure.
Summer is a vibrant time on campus, with thousands of students participating in camps and conferences. These visitors are potential future students, and the experience they have with us matters. Thank you for the kindness and professionalism you extend to every guest.
In addition to the major projects underway, the everyday work each person does continues to shape and strengthen our campus community. We’re fortunate to live and work in such a wonderful place, and even more fortunate to do it alongside thoughtful, committed colleagues.

This will be the final submission from this office, as I will be signing off on July 31. I want to share a few updates resulting from this transition:
I want to thank the employees in these areas for the opportunity to work with you. Your dedication has been instrumental in enhancing the student experience, and I am grateful for the associations we've built.
The Athletic Department will soon welcome a new Athletic Director. I want to extend a special thanks to Karen Johnson, Gary McKenzie, Denise Duncan, Gary Chidester, our trainers, coaches, and all who have contributed their time and talents to making our program one of the best in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
To the many student-athletes who have been coached, trained, and taught the principles of success—thank you. While a few have gone on to play professionally, most are simply outstanding individuals making a positive difference in their communities. Snow College is proud of you all.
Thank you to President McIff and the many presidents and administrators I have had the privilege of working with over the past 15 years. Together, we have seen unprecedented growth in the athletic department, and your support has been deeply appreciated.
To our faculty and staff—your commitment to student success is truly remarkable. I’ve often shared Snow’s story with colleagues at other institutions, many of whom admire what we have here. Not every college is as fortunate.
As I conclude my time at Snow College, I wish each of you the very best as you continue to serve students and one another. Snow is a rare and special institution, and I hope you continue to appreciate the privilege it is to be part of such a successful and student-centered college.

On April 10th Snow College hosted the second annual Technical Education Scholarship Banquet. Over 100 high school seniors from the six-county region applied for a $1,000 scholarship toward one of our Technical Education programs. Of those applicants, 57 students were selected to receive the scholarship and were invited to attend the banquet with their parents.
During the event, the scholarships were awarded, and our Tech Ed programs were showcased in booths around the Sevier Valley Center floor alongside local industry partners. Students and their families had the opportunity to meet with future instructors and industry representatives to learn how various Tech Ed certificates align with local workforce needs after graduation.
In total, we welcomed over 150 guests to the banquet, including many valued industry partners such as Bar M Towing, Fierce Firearms, Christensen Arms, Wolverine Fuels, and Design Line Tool.
This scholarship event is an all-hands on deck for many Snow departments from both campuses.

The Student Affairs and Enrollment Management division is excited to announce several organizational changes aimed at strengthening our impact on the student journey from recruitment through graduation.
First, Housing and Food Services have joined the division. Previously reporting to Rob Nielson under auxiliary services, these departments play a vital role in supporting a vibrant student life experience, and we are excited about the enhanced collaboration and synergy this adjustment will bring.
Second, Snow College has created a new position—Student Success Systems Analyst—to help maximize the use of technology in supporting students. Landon Peterson, formerly the Director of Academic Advising, has accepted this role and will work across departments to help leverage systems that support student success and retention. A search has commenced for the Director of Academic Advising.
Third, the division has adopted a new leadership structure organized around three functional areas: recruitment, student success, and student wellbeing. Angela Sanders has been named Executive Director of Recruitment and Admissions; Brittany Cornelsen will serve as Executive Director of Student Success; and Mike Daniels the Executive Director of Student Wellbeing and Dean of Students. This structure is designed to foster stronger collaboration and better align strategic priorities across departments.
Lastly, as part of these institutional changes, the Registrar’s Office will now report on Academic Affairs—strengthening alignment between academic operations and student records management. Close coordination between the Registrar’s Office and departments within Student Affairs and Enrollment management. We are grateful for Marcelle Nordfelt and her team and all that they do for the college.
These updates reflect a continued commitment to enhancing the student experience and ensuring every student has the support they need to thrive at Snow College.
The 2024/2025 school year has been an exciting one for Student Services on the Richfield Campus! With 350 students enrolled in Richfield classes, our campus continues to thrive and build a vibrant student community.
Student Life kept the energy high, hosting many events that brought students together and created lasting memories. Some of the year’s highlights included:
Richfield also expanded academic offerings on the General Education side, with more in-person classes.
Graduation was another major milestone, with over 300 Post High and Concurrent Enrollment students proudly earning their Technical Education Certificates or Associate’s degrees. Congratulations to all our graduates for their hard work and dedication!
Thank you to students, faculty, and staff for making this a successful and memorable year. We look forward to even more achievements and celebrations in the year ahead!

It has been a very busy summer for the Finance and Administrative Services team. There are many efforts and projects that are being pursued, including IT equipment upgrades, security compliance and training, Badger Advance development, replacement of two campus boilers (heating systems), attending training sessions on emergency management, and extensive reporting and implementation of a transition with our insurance coverage for assets in our Risk and Title IX Office. Our Human Resources office has had significant transitions with the departure of our Chief People Officer, Brent Baxter. Delvonie Kidder is serving as the interim Chief Human Resources Officer until the position is filled.
Our Financial Services team has done remarkable work in preparation for the fiscal year-end. In addition to this, the Fiscal year 2025-2026 General Fund budget was adopted by the Board of Trustees on June 12th. Our finance and budget staff provided exceptional work in preparing the documents in a timely manner. The following are budget highlights that are included in the General Fund Budget.
The staff of our Finance and Administrative Services team provide work that is critical for the functioning of the college. They are committed to enhancing the educational experience for our students and improving facilities, processes and the work environment for our employees.

Snow College proudly participated in the Richfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Mulligan Masters fundraiser tournament on June 6th, held at the picturesque Cove View Golf Course. This year’s event saw an enthusiastic turnout with 25 teams ready to compete, including two from Snow College which included employees from both campuses. Snow representatives challenged participants to engaging games at hole 14, providing opportunities to win fun Snow College swag while fostering community spirit.
A special shout-out goes to Nicolle Stuhlberg for her lively presence and enthusiastic representation of the college during the event, ensuring that everyone had a blast. Supporting such community events not only strengthens local ties but also highlights the college's commitment to enriching the area.
Looking ahead, Snow College is excited to announce the Wrestling Team's 4th annual fundraiser, the Buster’s Birdie Bash Golf Tournament, scheduled for September 5th at Cove. Contact Kevin Arrington for more information.

In May, the Staff Association hosted our annual Professional Development Day, and it was a fantastic turnout! Over 200 staff members participated in the day’s events.
We were honored to welcome Rusty Bastian from Redmond Minerals as our keynote speaker. His message was inspiring and set the tone for a meaningful day of connection and learning.
Breakout sessions were both educational and fun, with workshops led by our very own talented staff. Topics ranged from Lean Principles for Improving Processes to Country Line Dancing—a perfect balance of professional growth and lighthearted fun. It was a great opportunity to step away from our daily routines, relax, and reconnect with colleagues across campus.
