Whether it’s to earn a bit of extra cash, practice your newfound skills, meet new people, or simply make the most of every minute while you’re studying in the USA, there’s plenty of reasons why you might want to work as an international student at Snow College in Utah.
As an international student, it’s important for you to focus on your academics while enrolled at Snow College. This is a great time for you to concentrate on your studies, improve your English skills, and adjust to a new lifestyle and culture in the United States.

This is a unique program that gives international students a chance to gain real-life work experience on campus.
How does it work?
For this specific internship, students are only allowed to work on-campus with faculty and staff of Snow College, due to their visa requirements. If accepted for this internship, students have the freedom to choose the office they would like to work in and learn from. For example, if you are a computer science major and would like to learn more about cyber security, then you can work directly with our IT department in this specific area.
In addition to gaining hands-on experience and an hourly wage, you will work side by side with our staff or faculty, forging strong relationships. At the end of your internship, you may also receive a letter of recommendation or job referrals from the people you interned with, which will be valuable assets to you as you approach graduation.
Internship applications open at the beginning of the spring semester and close in mid-February. Contact the Center for Global Engagement office for more information.
Who is eligible?
The Global Studies Internship is only open to international students with:
Interning during your studies gives you a great opportunity to gain practical experience and make connections in professional fields you are considering for a career path.

After you have studied at Snow College for one academic year, you may be eligible to work off-campus but only in your field of study or major. There are two options:
This option requires that you are registered for an internship/practicum course that is an “integral part of an established curriculum (required for all students in the major or optional in the program)”. You will need to complete an application with a recommendation from the faculty member offering the course. Please note that if you receive one year or more of full-time CPT, you become ineligible for any post-completion optional practical training (OPT).
This highly popular option offers you training or employment that is directly related to your academic major of study. OPT is designed to provide you with practical experience in today’s job market.
What’s the best part about OPT and community colleges?
You can get twice the work experience when you attend Snow College!
As an international student on an F-1 visa in the United States, you are eligible for a total of 12 months of OPT per educational degree level (e.g. Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s).
That means that when you enrol at a community college, you can do OPT twice!
That’s 24 months of full time OPT work experience. You'll get two valuable, unique employment opportunities plus twice the income potential!
Each semester, our team at the Center for Global Engagement holds an OPT workshop to give international students more information and tips. Please contact us for the next available workshop dates.
At Snow College, we provide personalized coaching and assistance tailored to your specific needs to help you discover your true purpose and make a meaningful contribution to society, your community, and your employer.
