International Student Life

Join us for unforgettable experiences and exciting adventures!

With 6,000 students and nearly 300 of them from overseas, Snow College creates a welcoming atmosphere where you can explore who you are and who you will become. Read some of our student stories to learn more about where our international students are from and what they enjoy the most about Snow College.

Snow College’s main campus in Ephraim is very easy to navigate and small enough to help you feel instantly comfortable. You’ll be able to find your way around in no time! Here’s a quick bird’s eye view of the campus and main buildings.

Social Activities

Student Organizations, Clubs and Special Interests

Snow College has over 50 clubs focused on hobbies, sports, special interests and academics. From Western Swing to Pride Club, Gaming to Hammocking, you’re sure to find a club (or ten!) that’s right for you. Don’t see the one you want on the list? Grab some friends, recruit an advisor, and start it yourself!

If you want to see or get involved in live performances, our award-winning music, theater, and dance departments offer countless shows throughout the year. Plus, our nearby Sevier Valley Center on the Snow College campus in Richfield is a beautiful facility with a state-of-the-art theater, and a large arena that is perfect for concerts, sporting events and conventions.

And how many colleges do you know with their own planetarium? You read that right. Snow College has incredible perks and even free tickets so you can star gaze in pure comfort, no matter the weather.

Celebrating Over 50 Nationalities on Campus

While you’ll find cross-cultural activities on campus all year round, for one week every November, Snow College celebrates International Education Week and packs the calendar full of exciting events to bring a global flavor to Utah.

In addition to program-sponsored picnics, parties, and movies listed in our Community Hub, you may also choose from a wide variety of ongoing social activities in the Student Life Calendar.

And to get an insider view on everyday campus life, follow us on Instagram or connect with our Unibuddy International Student Ambassadors. You can message them directly and browse through the content they’ve created and shared such as images, video clips, and helpful articles.

Leadership Opportunities

Snow College provides an inclusive environment and creates diverse connections through extracurricular activities, clubs, leadership opportunities, and services to the campus community. Our Student Life team encourages you to get involved in many leadership roles such as the Advocates (which raise awareness of mental health) and the SBOs (Student Body Officers).

Campus SPORTS AND Recreation

Whether you want to be in the middle of the action or cheer our teams on from the sidelines, we’ve got plenty of sports teams and games to keep you busy!

In addition to program activities, students enjoy our top-notch campus recreation facilities. Within walking distance of the dorms, the Activity Center offers a swimming pool, fitness center, indoor track, volleyball, basketball, and racquetball courts. Also on campus there are tennis courts, softball fields, and a field for soccer. As part of Snow College's physical education curriculum, you can take courses in backpacking, canoeing and kayaking, cross-country skiing, and rock climbing.

The Location

Snow College is located in the heart of the Great American West, which is perfect for many activities and outdoor adventures. Our town Ephraim is in the center of Utah state. It is a small community with distinct character formed by history and environment. At an elevation of 5500 feet, the campus offers a spectacular view of the Wasatch and Manti LaSal Mountain ranges.

Weather

Summer weather in the high mountains is surprisingly mild. Summers have glorious, warm days with cool evenings. But be prepared for the occasional summer rain storm. Winters are cold, but what else would you expect from a place that boasts the “The Greatest Snow on Earth!”

Outdoor Adventures

Day Trips and Group Activities

You can head out to explore the sights any time either on your own or with friends, but we also arrange trips for you! Snow College’s Center for Global Engagement takes international students on special trips to Utah’s best locations throughout the year.

Our group outings head to nearby cities for shopping, sightseeing, and theater parties.

And if you want to explore all the natural beauty that Utah has to offer, from hiking to river rafting, skiing, or even camping, then you can join our outdoor activities. Keep in mind the following tips for these trips:

  • The Snow College International Program has its own sleeping bags and tents for camping trips.
  • Bring clothing appropriate for the activities you plan to participate in. Shorts and swimwear are great for lake activities and river trips. Meanwhile, T-shirts, shorts, and hiking shoes or boots are needed for mountain hikes. And for overnight camping trips in the summer in the high mountains or skiing trips in the winter, bring a warm jacket and pants. Don’t forget rain jackets for any of these excursions.
  • Above all, bring your camera.
  • Other equipment you may need, such as skis, snowboards and helmets, can be rented at low cost.

These activities are designed to to help you experience the beauty and grandeur of Utah’s mountainous scenery as well as the famous Grand Canyon. You may choose to join a small group of your classmates for a hike in the high alpine valleys of the Manti LaSal National Forest, or camp at the foot of Mount Nebo (the highest peak in the Wasatch Range), or join a river trip through the Canyons of the Green or Colorado Rivers. We also take international students on trips to the five National Parks in Utah, as well as the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. During the winter, there are memorable skiing and snowboarding adventures.

Utah's National Parks include: Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Capital Reef.
