David Barker

Dovetailed Joinery

This workshop is designed for beginning & intermediate craftspeople who desire to grow their skills in woodworking with traditional hand tools.   Participants will learn the proper setup, use and approach to using hand tools to create fine furniture.  Power equipment will be used to fabricate the wood prior to working with hand tools. Training will include sizing material with the jointer & planer alongside the table saw and compound miter saw.  The layout and methods to fashion dovetails will be demonstrated to create a custom jewelry box.  The project combines a dovetailed case with a sliding inner tray and a beautiful frame & panel lid.  Additional fine details are added to give the box a very personal touch and elevate the project. By the end of the week, each participant will complete an heirloom quality jewelry box out of fine exotic woods.  This workshop is open to participants at any level of experience.

Studio Fee: $75
