More Information

Snow College is honored to donate this tree in memory of Rexton Jay Hales, who passed away on June 24, 2024, at the tender age of 6. Rexton’s life was a testament to strength, resilience, and joy. Despite battling the rare autoimmune disease Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis, which affected his lungs, skin, bones, and liver, Rexton never allowed his condition to define him. His unwavering spirit, infectious giggles, and vibrant personality touched everyone who knew him.

Rexton was a miracle boy, defying all odds, especially during his extended stay at Primary Children’s Hospital when he was just one year old. Many doctors and specialists gave him little hope, but Rexton proved them wrong. He became a pioneer in the treatment of Multi-System LCH, showing the world that it was possible to not just survive but thrive. His courage and determination continued to shine, even until his final moments.

Throughout his life, Rexton cherished every opportunity to be a boy—playing with his iPad, lining up toy cars, enjoying water play, climbing trees, and engaging in games with his sister, parents, and friends. He had a zest for life, whether it was tackling his sister on the trampoline, exploring the aquarium, or spending time at Mission Beach and Splash Summit Water Park. Despite the physical challenges he faced, Rexton was always determined to play, laugh, and enjoy life to its fullest.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rexton attended Nursery and Primary, sharing his bright light with all who knew him. His strength and courage throughout his struggles, particularly in his final months, were remarkable. He faced extreme pain with humility and fought valiantly until the end, leaving a lasting legacy of love, joy, and determination.

Rexton’s impact on those around him is immeasurable. His journey has inspired countless others, and his life serves as a powerful reminder to cherish each moment and embrace happiness in the face of adversity. While his earthly battle has ended, Rexton is now wrapped in the loving arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, free from pain and disability.

Rexton, you are deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew you.

Rexton is survived by his parents, Brandon Hales, Assistant Athletic Trainer at Snow College, and Kylee Hales, an alumna of Snow College, as well as his little sister, Zina Hales, all of Manti.
